Analects of Sage Confucius The Analects (Lun-yü) is a collection of moral and ethical principles enunciated by the Chinese thinker Confucius (K’ung Fu-tzu) in conversations with his disciples. These principles set standards for individual conduct and the administration of government and community. After Confucius died in 479 B.C., his followers compiled his teachings in the form of dialogues between him and his students. The resulting collection highly influenced educational, social, and cultural thought in China and elsewhere. |

Essentials of Buddhism The Buddha, the Fully Enlightened One, was born about two thousand five hundred years ago in the kingdom of Kapilavatthu at the Himalayan Foothills, as the son of the Sakyan king Suddhodana and the queen Mahamaya. His clan name was Gotama (Skt. Gautama) and the name given to him at the naming ceremony attended by many a wise man on the invitation of the king was Siddhattha, (Skt. Siddhàrtha) “one who fulfilled the aspiration”. A week later his mother died, but a devoted foster-mother was found in his aunt, Mahapajapati Gotami, who also was the king’s wife. It was she who brought him up as her own son. It is recorded in the canonical texts that he was brought up in luxury. |

Foundations of Theory & Practice of Yoga- Sage Patanjali The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are in themselves exceedingly brief, less than ten pages of large type in the original. Yet they contain the essence of practical wisdom, set forth in admirable order and detail. The theme, if the present interpreter be right, is the great regeneration, the birth of the spiritual from the psychical man: the same theme which Paul so wisely and eloquently set forth in writing to his disciples in Corinth, the theme of all mystics in all lands. |

The Attainment of the Infinite We have gathered here to exercise our minds in the direction of our true blessedness. Where does our blessedness actually lie? Where do we become complete persons? These are days when people are intensely conscious of the environment of the world. The environment is very important. The vast atmosphere around us is the environment. It not only influences us minute by minute every day, but on a careful analysis we will realise that we are inseparable from this environment. |

Spiritual Instructions by Ramana Maharshi The spiritual instructions of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi well through the books which have already come out. He shines in the resplendent Arunachala Hill (Tiruvannamalai) as the sun of knowledge which destroys the sorrows of those who worship him. In this book named Upadesa Manjari (bouquet of spiritual instructions) Sri Natanananda, a true devotee of his, who serves and praises him by laying at his lotus feet many garlands of songs, has brought out Bhagavan’s words heard by him at different times. They consist of questions and answers comprising four chapters entitled upadesa (instruction), abhyasa (practice), anubhava (experience) and arudha (attainment). I humbly request devotees to accept this small book which offers wholesome food for the spirit. |
